A colleague of mine has a Christmas tradition of commissioning a family portrait for the year. I was given express permission to do whatever I wanted, so I hijacked a laser cutter and went to town: doing 40 hours of work the week of Christmas.
I traced a sketch and spent hours in Illustrator pathfinding and layering to create printable assets for the laser cutter.
After cutting, I organized the piece by layer and spent a few days staining and and assembling in my home office.
